Managing Director, DFDS AB

DFDS AB is a company providing door-to-door solutions for customers, both full load, part load, piece goods and premium services with customers in the forestry and automotive industries, among others. We are now looking for a Managing Director who will contribute to the company’s ongoing journey.

About the role
As Managing Director, you will report directly to the Vice President Nordic Dry. You will manage your own legal entity in Sweden and be part of the BU Nordic Dry management team together with other MD colleagues in BU Nordic. This is a key role in the DFDS organisation in Sweden that will involve great collaboration with the rest of the organization to continue our journey towards One DFDS.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and drive the overall performance of the Logistics forwarding business in Sweden
- In line with the overall DFDS strategic plan, develop and deliver on strategic initiatives for the local business
- Propose, initiate and deliver organizational changes as required in order to improve organizational effectiveness and performance
- Create and establish strong internal relationships and promote collaboration across departments and business areas within the group and support the ambition of One DFDS
- Stay up to date with market and industry trends as well as the competitor landscape
- Maintain and develop key customer relations as well as driving new business development
- Manage and follow up on annual budgets
- Overall responsibility for maintaining a good working environment
- Maintaining a good working relationship with union representatives
About you
To succeed in this position, you are a confident leader with a track record from our industry, able to relate to people at all levels of the organisation. You create excellent relationships internally as well as externally in order to develop the business and organisation. You have a passion for logistics and the transport industry and for developing long standing customer relations. Furthermore, we believe you have:
- University Degree in Supply Chain Management/Logistics, Business Administration or other relevant field (relevant experience may replace formal degree)
- Several years’ experience from Logistics industry in a management position
- Experience from having P&L responsibility
- A deep understanding of the logistics industry
- Fluency in English (writing/speaking)
- Experience from complex businesses and matrix organisation
- Experience working in an international environment
