Procurement Commodity Manager Steel Scrap
About SSAB
SSAB is undertaking a strategic roadmap to revolutionize iron- and steelmaking, and to be the world’s first steel company to deliver iron ore-based fossil-free steel to the market in 2026. We are now looking for a highly professional and committed person to join us on this journey as Commodity Manager for steel scrap.
Location: North/West Europe
About the job
As part of the strategic roadmap for providing fossil-free steel, SSAB Oxelösund’s production will be converted from blast furnace production to electric arc furnace production. As part of this journey SSAB is now looking for a Commodity Manager with the responsibility to work with the increasing need for steel scrap in Oxelösund.
SSAB targets to have scrap coming from both customer return flows as well as regular commercial scrap suppliers. As a Commodity Manager, your mission will be to continue the development of this strategy as well as work with implementing it. You will work in close collaboration with internal stakeholders and procurement colleagues.
You will be part of the raw material procurement team with highly professional colleagues responsible for other key raw material commodities of SSAB. Besides your own area of responsibility, you will contribute to procurement overall strategy and processes while also working with short- and long-term activities.
Even though you will work towards the site in Oxelösund, the location for this role is flexible. Still, you are expected to be at the Oxelösund site on a regular basis. Other travelling will also be a natural part of this job.
Your qualifications
As Commodity Manager, you will not have a team formally reporting to you, still leadership skills are of great importance to lead the commodity team. We are therefore looking for someone who has great communication skills and naturally creates involvement and engagement in the team.
As a professional profile you need to have both strategic capabilities as well as a hands-on mentality with the ability to complete daily tasks efficiently. Your analytical skills will also be a key competence to succeed in this position, you probably do not mind diving deep into numbers to gain the full picture.
Preferably, you have a background in the steel scrap business where you have gained strong commercial experience and network with stakeholders within the industry. Experience from supply chain, including bulk shipments is also beneficial.
We highly value collaboration and a positive team atmosphere, thus look for a person who is a team player contributing to a good team spirit. Also, we trust that you, throughout your career, have gained integrity, a proactive and methodical way of working and you are probably motivated by achieving results.
We expect you to have a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in economics or technology. Also, you have very good written and spoken English skills as well as professional skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
We offer
This is a crucial position where you will play a key role. The right candidate, taking full responsibility for the scope, will have great opportunities to develop and influence his/her own ways of working as well as have impact on SSAB’s performance. We at SSAB offer a challenging and stimulating position in an international environment where you will be part of a highly professional team. When joining SSAB you will become part of an organization of passionate problem solvers working together on important challenges. If you set out to achieve things, at SSAB you will have the possibility of broadening your skills and grow within your field or beyond.
